Review & Try-On: Ace & Jig Simone Dress in Dune, a Madewell Exclusive

Ace & Jig Simone Dress in Dune - Madewell Exclusive
So I'm rather behind on reviews of pieces that I've tried on and photographed. What can I say? They're rather detailed, and most of them are for things I didn't love. And it's never really fun to write non-glowing words about a brand I love. But for the sake of the greater good, and because I haven't seen much written about the Ace & Jig Simone Dress, please see below for my review!

Style Description: A tiered ruffle mini dress with wide straps in the reverse Dune fabric. Lined in a lightweight cotton similar to what is used for pockets on other Ace & Jig pieces. The lining is fairly fitted on the bottom half, so the dress isn't too vulnerable to exposure via breezes.

Size/Fit: True to size to a bit large on top. I'm wearing an XS above, and it fit me as I would have expected, though the back was a bit too low for me, perhaps because I'm petite.

Neckline: Square/straight across.

Length: Mini length. Knee length on my frame, but would be above the knee on most!

Closures: None. Slips on over the head.

Pockets: Nope.

Notables: The tiers are attached to the thin cotton lining, as mentioned above, which is fairly atypical for Ace & Jig pieces. This construction makes it feel flimsier than the usual Ace & Jig piece, however.

Overall Thoughts: This is definitely not the usual Ace & Jig style, but worked better for me than expected. I was fully expecting to hate this, especially in a pink textile like Dune, but ended up kind of liking it. If it weren't a bit big for me on top/in the back, I might have considered it. Especially as it is now on sale at Madewell
